Yordan Petrov from Professional Cycling Team Hemus-1896 Troyan achieved a remarkable success by finishing second in the general classification of the international race “Cup Doltcini – In the Footsteps of the Romans” (UCI class 2.2), which was held for the 7th consecutive year on the territory of the municipalities of Razlog and Bansko. The event was organized by Doltcini Pro Team and the support of their partners who love cycling and attracted many elite cyclists from different nationalities.
During the first day of the race, Yordan Petrov demonstrated outstanding form by finishing second in the final sprint. On the second day of the race he placed 8th, which allowed him to hold his position and finish silver medalist in the final standings.
The Hemus-1896 Trojan team also achieved a significant success, taking second place in the overall team standings, following the Danish IBT-Tripeak team. This is another proof of the strong preparation and collective work of the Bulgarian team.
The other Bulgarian competitor, Martin Papanov from Tsar Simeon Plovdiv, also achieved success. On the second day of the race he took third place, which secured him fifth place overall.
The Dolcini Cup – In the Footsteps of the Romans is one of the most important events for cyclists in the region, covering two stages with varied terrain including mountain and sprint sections. This year the race attracted teams from Europe and even outside the continent, making it even more challenging and prestigious.
